The Name Says it All

Big Judd's. In the worst town EVER--Ririe, Idaho (sorry to anyone who grew up/lives there. I fill rill bad for you, you poor jerks). Best comment of the day from Jessie as Ada was staring down a bottle of fry sauce, "They start them early here. If you were from Ririe that would be your bottle." Pic below.

Reduce

Poor Ada girl got her 4 month shots today. She took it like a champ and is now sleeping it off. We'll see what kind of mood she's in when she wakes up. I'm guessing not so great.
Her new stats are:
Height: 26 inches (97th percentile)
Weight: 15 lbs (83rd percentile)
Head: 41 cm (55th percentile)

It was only a matter of time until her weight percentile started to drop off. But check out her height. The nurse didn't believe how long she was and measured her three times. Thank goodness her growth has started to slow down. There would have been a lot of amazing summer clothes she wouldn't ever have had a chance to wear (knock on wood. Maybe I'm jinxing it).

And just for fun, here are some pictures of Ada in her jampy chair.

Cute Face

Hers, not mine.
So I couldn't decide which picture to post (even though they are about identical) so I just put up both. She looks better in one and I look less greazy and huge-faced in the other. One picture shows more of her dress, the other more of her sweater. I just can't win.
Thank you Monson grandparents for the cute new dress. She's finally big enough to wear it.

Now This is Happening

video

She jampy jamps (that's for Jessie).

And so it begins. Ada also started rolling over today. Though I'm not sure how long it will last because she HATE HATE HATES being on her stomach so the end result isn't really her favorite thing. Video to come, hopefully.

True Story

To go along with the previous post. I was picking up my laundry last night and the Chinese woman who owns the place told me Ada looked just like me. "Except for the ears. She's got big ears. Just like her dad". So there you go.

She's a Monson After All

This kid is RIDICULOUS. Besides the blue eyes (wasn't expecting those), this lady definitely has the Monson ears. Check out how they are starting to tip out at the top. Don't they make her look so impish? Love it.

Little Beast

More video. She still gets too distracted to actually smile on camera but I at least got her to vocalize. And her head looks huge in all of these so that's pretty awesome. First one is better than the second, especially with the bonus spit-up at the very end. I also love love love how she sort of has a deep voice. Enjoy!!

Faves From the First Week

After visiting Jill's new baby, Jane, I ran home and looked through all of Ada's pictures from the first week. It seems like forever ago that she was so teeny tiny. I know it's cliche, but it really is crazy how fast they grow.

Super Boring Video of a Baby

These really are just for the grandmas (and maybe one of my sisters). Though neither of them would be very impressed with our parenting skills if they realized what the lyrics are to the song Kyle is forcing our sweet innocent baby to dance to. Bad parents!
EVERYONE else will not find them very entertaining (spoiler alert).
First video: what she does all day. Sucks on her hands and makes gagging faces. Note: I HATE how my voice sounds on recordings (who doesn't?) and there's a pretty good cross-eyed moment at the very end.
Second video: what happens every night when Daddy gets home. Kyle sure does love him some Video Yearbook. Also, check out that baby cellulite. Lastly, it's terrifying how Ada is already into tv. I didn't realize it would happen so young. She just sits there with a glazed look on her face, which means the time has come to drastically reduce our tv consumption while she's awake. Did anyone see that Disney is giving refunds for everyone who has ever bought a Baby Einstein video? That's because tv does NOT make your baby smart, contrary to what marketers try to tell you. Come on people! Link here http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/24/education/24baby.html?_r=1
Third video: now that she's discovered her hands, she's discovered they can reach out and hold things . And that the things she's holding can be put into her mouth. Hey, that's a big deal too!

Funny Face

So my Mom thought this was sacrilegious, but I think it's an hilarious idea (but not as funny as when Jessie did it http://jessica-jensen.blogspot.com/2009/07/yes.html Especially the last one. It still makes me laugh). Plus, I'm running out of blog ideas. I keep trying to get video of Ada laughing and smiling but she's always too obsessed with the sparkly camera and won't perform.

Ada Outdoes Herself

Why, you ask, is my baby naked on the streets of New York City? Baby's first epic blow-out (it was bound to happen). I'll spare you the gory details. Just laugh over the image of a major wipe- down on a public bench in the hipster-ist neighborhood of Manhattan (the Lower East Side). I got lots of funny looks from skinny jeans wearing tools. Ada was not amused, but I sure was.

She just gets bigger and bigger....

Hey Ma, I've Got Hands!!!

Her life just became that much more awesome.
Ada spends a lot of time looking at these. Wouldn't it be weird to not know you had hands? Babies are such babies.

Real IM conversation with my sister, Jessie.
me: ada realized that she has a right hand and is always staring at it. she has no idea about her left one though.
her: There you go, that blog post just wrote itself. picture of her staring at her right hand. unawares of the left.
me: actually. as i was typing that I looked over and she was staring at her left one.
her: here's your post - you were JUST telling your sister about how she discovered her right hand - ONLY her right hand, and were preparing in your mind a blog post on it, when you looked over and she was staring intently at her LEFT hand. I like the line about her world becoming that much more awesome. Add a picture, and there you go.
me: is that too cheesy though?
her: no, it's funny. baby's world becoming more awesome with the discovery of each new hand
me: not that you're cheesy. just that posting about a baby over and over again is cheesy even though it's a baby blog and that's the point. nevermind.
me: k. hopefully I can get a picture of her.
her: all things ada and nothing else
me: it's true. i warned people.
her: I, for one, would actually be angry if you posted anything else. With THAT blog title and description ;)
me: false advertising.
her: ew, I hate these emoticons. What's wrong with just a semi-colon, dash, and parenthesie?
me: not cute enough
her: is that singular for parentheses?
me: no idea. i was impressed when i saw it though.

Ok. So maybe I thought that was funnier than it actually is. I'm still coming to terms with the whole mommy blog thing.

Sleeping Babe

Kathryn tried to show me a few camera pointers yesterday (this picture was taken by her). I think I retained some of it. Moral of the story is that I need a new lens...

Baby's Even Bigger

Fall clothes are the best.

Our linebacker got her first shots today. She reacted exactly how I react to shots (minus the vomiting and/or fainting)--she screamed for 1 1/2 minutes and then conked out .

Here are her new stats:
Height: 23.5 inches, 85th %
Weight: 13.8 pounds, 96th %
Head: 39cm, 53rd %

So basically my 2 month old could beat up your 2 month old. Deal with it.

Baby Got Blessed

For those of you who think this is a baptism--wrong. This is a baby blessing a la Mormon style. It was quite the par-taye. I fully realize that this is picture overload, but the grandmas will appreciate it and that's all that really matters.

My grandma, Sweetie, made this dress for my blessing when I was a wee one. Too bad our little Sasquatch couldn't fit into the matching booties and her fat arms kept getting the circulation cut off. Carly was very concerned.

crowded
She hated the bonnet. Can't say I blame her. But good for a tearful photo op.
We always laugh when our baby cries. It's sort of our thing.
Just hanging out with Grandpa Monson.
Grandma Monson got the only smiles of the night. She must have been doing something right.
Oops. Out of order.

Love this one.

Interesting how it's always the women who fawn over a baby...

oh yeah--many thanks to Daniel for documenting the blessed event!

The Cutest Picture Ever of the Cutest Baby Ever.

EVER. And that's not just my opinion because I birthed her and we share half of the same genes. I can be completely objective. I don't want to hear any arguments.

For Kyle

...So he doesn't forget what his own offspring looks like. I couldn't get her to smile but you get the idea. My child has standards-she's no trained monkey.

Firsts

She's smiling!! She started this about two weeks ago but just now seems to have finally gotten full control of her face. Too bad Kyle hasn't even seen her do this yet. That's what happens when you let your wife take your baby on a two week vacation.

She can hold things!! I know... big deal, right? But she's a baby and started out not being able to do anything. I think it's kind of a awesome.

On a side note; harkening back to my previous post about hilarious baby farts. She did entertain us in Sacrament meeting today by ripping a huge one in the middle of the closing prayer. Priceless.
