Ada in the Park This Morning

This is how I see Ada 95% of the time.

She stuck her hand in pigeon poop right after I
snapped this. Thank goodness for a handy wet wipe.

New words: "Hey", "What?", "This" (as she points at everything). For only having a vocabulary of 5 or 6 words, two of these seem pretty useless.

500 Pound Amazon

Ada won't be one after all. We finally got in for her 1 year appointment yesterday. It. Was. Traumatic. Finger pricks, blood being squeezed out, 3 shots, fever last night, up a million times, grumpy this morning. No thanks.
Her new stats are:
Height: 31.5 inches, 80%
Weight: 21 pounds, 13%
Head: 45cm, 8% (she has a tiny head)

The doctor isn't too concerned that Ada went from the 98th percentile to the 13th. She's probably just taking after my body type. But we do have to go back in 6 weeks just to make sure she's gaining something.

And since I never take any pictures, here's another one from our Idaho trip.

Hands

I love Ada's hands. Probably because they are the only things on her that look like me (minus the dimples). I'm vain like that.

We've been busy. Here's Ada enjoying bubble time at a music class we went to today. No wonder they charge a bazzilion dollars for these classes (we got a discounted rate through Groupon). There was a keyboard player, a drummer and two singers doing Broadway/Cruise type humor. Kyle's going to be so excited to hear about this new career path open to him.

Ada's been spending a lot of time with her new pull-along toy. I'm loving this toddler age. She finally seems like a real kid.

Home Again, Home Again

We made it! I'm already feeling nostalgic though, hence the video of Jessie and Ada. I wasn't quite bored enough to be ready to come home (but for some reason Kyle insisted). The flight was surprisingly painless. She screamed from SLC to Denver, but actually fell asleep on my lap on the NYC leg. Miracle of miracles.
PS. Thank you Mom for taking such good care of us and letting Ada empty all of your drawers.
PPS. How is no one commenting on that note I posted? It was only the highlight of my ENTIRE trip.

Making a Quiet Book is Hard

This was my big project for the trip.
For anyone thinking of asking me to make one of these for them, let's just clear the air now. Your kids are great. Really, they are. But there's only one child I love enough in this world to make one of these for and even then it seemed like more labor than actually giving birth to her. She had better appreciate it some day!

Thanks to my mom for doing all of the tricky stitching. She's a sewing ninja.

*if anyone wants to try making one for themselves, I've got the pattern and some supplies I'd be perfectly happy to hand over to you. Heck, I'll even give you some pointers and tips.

Idaho: The Good, The Bad and The Awesome

The Good: View on the way out to Driggs.

The Bad: Ada staring down another bottle of fry sauce at Big Juds.

Matching outfits. Lucille and Buster would be proud.

The Awesome: Excerpt from a guest book at a soda fountain in Driggs. Pretty much sums everything up.
