Just remembering how cute Ada was at 6 months...

We'll pretend like they were playing along to some awesome indie song (even though it was actually probably Fall Out Boy).

The Human Suitcase

Ada "gets dressed" by trying to put every single article of clothing she owns on all at once.
Kind of like this:

Convert to Pink

It is slowly happening. I'm talking the perfect shade of pink--a soft dusty rose or peachy champagne, as opposed to a pastel or fuchsia. Nothing enhances Ada's "peaches and cream" complexion like this perfectly perfect pink. I'm happy to say that I've searched far and wide (it's not readily available, especially for babies, which is why she never wore much of it). Ada will be wearing a lot of it this summer.

3 Minutes

So....this just might be my most exciting post ever.
We've been stuck inside a bit for the last couple of days. Thanks to Ada catching anther cold (hopefully the last of the season!) and terrible weather (it rained, hailed, snowed, lightninged and thundered yesterday. Not sure how that's possible).
Point is, Ada has a 3 minute attention span. A day is made up of a lot of 3 minute increments (minus her typical 3 hour long afternoon nap. Hallelujah).

Kyle grew up in a world without Richard Scarry. Unforgivable.

Strapping herself into the high chair. She outgrew it for actual eating months ago.

Time-Out (Finally)

We've started to institute time-out in this household. One to two minutes in her crib (by herself, contrary to what this picture says, and no toys). Talk about grown up. Does it make me sad? NO way. I've been waiting anxiously for this day. She finally fully understands cause and effect and that you will get (minorly) punished for being naughty.

Yes, this is really happening.
And yes, we got it primarily for Ada.
Yes, we are those parents.
And yes, I'm fully aware of how ridiculous this is.
And yes, we consider it "screen-time" and it's restricted just like TV is.

Kyle wants Ada to be comfortable with technology at an early age and I just want my iPhone back (ok--and more pleasant plane trips in the future).

Welcome iPad2. I think this is the beginning of a beautiful relationship.

We had a good morning.

Story Time

I love this book because it gives me an excuse to be lazy for 3 minutes (and those 3 minutes are precious).
Ada loves it because she gets to hear her Grandma Monson doing the Itsy Bitsy Spider.
Win win.

(Pacifier has got to go, but we love our crutch so much.)

Ada Made This

Ada just figured out how to take pictures with my Iphone.

Artistic genius? Nah.

Ada in Hysterics

I couldn't not share this (even though it's dark and terrible quality. I tried to grab our video camera but it was, of course, out of batteries. Also, who knew you could stretch one balloon into two blog posts?). It has a slow wind-up, but by the end she's borderline hysterical.

How can a balloon possibly be that much fun? Kyle and I were talking about how much joy little kids find in the most mundane things and that we wish we could still feel that way (about ANYTHING). I asked him if he remembered any instances from his childhood and he goes "No. But I'm sure I did. You on the other hand, not so much". Haha. He knows me too well.

We should keep one on hand at all times.

Balloons Are Cool, Ummmmm Kay.

This one's for Jessie. She'll know why.

I maybe, sort of, kind of understand a little teeny tiny bit why parents get rid of their TVs. I always thought that was pretty extreme, but after showdowns like this all day...
Ugh. I'm not quite there yet. Check back in a month.

Just Like Her Dad

Ada is such a little mini-me. It's refreshing to see her copying her dad every once in a while.

Love the crazy hair and that huge potbelly.

Yes, Kyle's the only cookie dipper in this household.

A few we missed from this week...
We ran into Elmo on our way home from the zoo. It pretty much made Ada's day. Elmo was, of course, asking for "donations".

Spring Hath Sprungeth least for today.
We headed back to the Central Park Zoo this morning to take advantage of the gorgeous weather.

Brooklyn Children's Museum

We headed over to the Brooklyn Children's Museum this morning with a few friends. It makes me almost wish we still lived downtown. It's decked out but I'm not sure it's really worth the one + hours it took to get there (and back) from the Upper West Side. That makes for a long subway ride with 5 toddlers in tow.
Ada clearly had a good time though.

It's almost like she was born knowing how to hold a purse.

Summers Past

This is one of my favorite pictures of me and Ada. I stumbled across it earlier today and realized it's never been posted anywhere. I think Ada is around 6-7 months.

Also, because I'm missing summer and bathing suits are now suddenly a theme on this blog, here's another fave from last year at Disney World (Ada at 8 months).

Dancey Dance

We've been taking a music class every week. Ada loves it. She's the kid who gets up in front of everyone and dances like mad, thinking the applause is especially for her. This video doesn't quite capture that, but I doubt I'll get another, so it will have to suffice.
When do kids start to become less uninhibited and more self-conscious?
That will be a sad day.

Also, note to self: never EVER take a toddler to the MET. I'm so, so glad the Natural History Museum is in our neighborhood for those cold, rainy days.
