Bronx Zoo

We were there Saturday morning. My favorite pictures from the day don't even have anything to do with the zoo. We'll just say the long subway ride to actual animal sightings ratio was fairly low.

Photo dump. I love too many of these.

On the way out of town. No worries--that's a pretzel.

She's hugging me! Her own idea! This is a big deal!! (crotch shot--but with a bathing suit, so I 'm not counting it).

So much for editing...

Kite On the Beach

We went to the beach today. I took way too many pictures (and love most of them). The Hipstamatic is back due to me not wanting to commit camera murder (I've heard too many horror stories of cameras on the beach to risk it).

Hmmm....what else? We learned that we could totally do a beach vacation with Ada (Florida Keys-- here we come). I thought the day would be a disaster, but Ada enjoyed every second of it. Until it was time to leave. Epic fit, even though her legs were blue from the freezing cold water. Child would have gone swimming on her own if left to her own devices.

I've got a million more pictures. I'll try to be good at editing myself in the next post.

Ada--The Diviner

She's surely calling down some hellfire and damnation. Or maybe just rain...

Touching stuff.

The typical camera angle--her running away from me for the millionth time.

So little.

Bronx Botanical Garden

Beautiful, Beautiful (But maybe too big? The Brooklyn one is definitely more manageable). All Ada wanted to do was climb on rocks. Oh--and run away from me, laughing maniacally.

Ada of the skinned knees.

More pics to come.

We've been super-boring. This is the best I've got.

Sunday, May 22, 2011

Kyle's former boss brought these over for Ada last night. Brilliant idea. There are so many little kid things I don't even know exist. Kind of daunting.

This is the best $15 we've spent in awhile (the Ikea special). We might need to expand her set soon.

It didn't rain this afternoon. We made it outside. I took some pictures.
Also--Ada's nose is starting to change. I guess this is part of growing up?

More of Me

Proof that my mother made giant babies (that grew up to be tiny humans)

My mother was/is gorgeous

Only my father could pull off that receding hairline (at like age 25!!)

Puppy and Panda

We've been trying to keep sane in this crappy weather (raining all week!! Every.Single.Day). Between play dates, lunch with friends and a planned trip to the Brooklyn Children's Museum, I think we might just barely survive.

Here we are, wearing the same dress, looking nothing alike.

My sister Jessie uploaded and sent me all of my baby/toddler/kid pictures (she's been bored).
Maybe I'll post more at a later date.

The High Line

Here's Ada at the High Line. We hit it up Friday afternoon to meet up with one of my best friends from High School (haven't seen her in 12 years, THANK YOU ARMY).
I want to go back again soon to check out all of the expansions.

The Cloisters & Ft. Tryon Park

We didn't last long at The Cloisters due to a certain small child touching priceless works of art, but man, such beautiful buildings. See:

Those doors? Thousands of years old? Yes. Did Ada pick at the metal parts? Yes. Did I realize she shouldn't be touching them at the time? No. I'm the mom that gives other moms a bad name.

Ada joining in again. Why yes, those are Jesus' feet in the upper left-hand corner. The Cloisters is nothing but (often) creepy religious art (plus those cool unicorn tapestries).

I love this picture of Carly and June. Wish I had one just like it of me and Ada.

Ada and June both looking annoyed. And check out the lashes on that kid (June).

Fort Tryon Park is officially making it onto our rotating list of things to do in good weather.

Brooklyn Botanical Gardens Deuce

Overlooking what used to be the cherry blossoms.

Ada and Jacob being all friendly.

Staring at airplanes--her new favorite hobby.

Looking out of an art installation designed by Patrick Dougherty.
