This is Gross

Photobucket

And I have no real excuse. Kyle was out of town. I was exhausted. Ada was being a turd. And they have that new awesome fountain drink machine. I did, however, switch her fake chicken abomination out for my real chicken. That makes it a little bit better, right?
I've now eaten at McDonald's twice in the last ten years.

Kyle's jaw just dropped.

More Drumming

This is an interest that probably shouldn't be encouraged. You know, with us living in a NYC apartment and all...

Joseph doesn't seem very appreciative of her attentions in this one.

Tooth Doctor

Photobucket

Ada has been infatuated with all things doctor so I sold this as a trip to the "Tooth Doctor". Worked like a charm. She was really excited but then too stubborn to stick out her tongue. From what the dentist saw she thinks Ada might have a tight frenulum (which would explain some of her annunciation problems). Her teeth look perfect though.

Hair

Photobucket

How could her hair possibly be long enough for this? It's practically as long as mine. Craziness.

Ada and Co.

Ada (the little mother) had to make sure her friends all had a pillow to rest against and a toy to keep them entertained.

Ada and her Grandma

(I'm just so glad it wasn't me reading that book. SOOOOO sick of Richard Scarry. How long can a child's obsession last?)

That's not boredom, it's the look of intense concentration.

And to think that Kyle didn't want to pull out the drums..

Ada's Self-Video

I was cleaning out the pictures on my phone and stumbled upon this video that I definitely did not take. Awesome.

Another Video of Ada

I know. BORING. But (I think) she's been so funny lately. Her sense of humor and imagination are really starting to take off and I like it.

And man, that kid likes an audience. Little miss drama.

1 Month

Photobucket

Weight: 9.12 lbs, 45 %
Height: 23 inches, 90 %
(for comparison, at this age Ada was a pound heavier but an inch shorter)
This explains why he's already outgrowing his 0-3 month clothing.

Cute?

It's disgusting how cute you think your own kids are (and alternately, my biggest pet peeve is when other people assume you think THEIR kids are the cutest in the world. Um. No. And please make your kid stop pawing at my leg).

And I'm not that weird mom that looks at pictures of my kids while they are napping and out of eyesight. Nope. That's not me.

So here's Ada just being generally cute.

We really need to find that cord to our good video camera. The iPhone just ain't cutting it.

This could be a different blog post but I'll just throw it in here. When we were growing up, my mom kept a book of all the ridiculous things we said as kids. My greatest contribution was telling my mom to turn around and then exclaiming, "Nice bum, Mom!!" I was 2.
Jessie did a good blog post summarizing some of our beauties (though I'd probably be disturbed if anyone was actually curious enough to read her post. Not that it isn't hilarious--it is. I mean, my family certainly thinks so...).

So until I start a book of my own, here's a place holder of some of the (I think) funny things Ada has said lately (because she's FINALLY starting to talk a little).

--When I was pregnant, Ada would lift up my shirt and yell at my stomach, "Baby brother come out!!" (This is still her longest sentence to date.)
Ewww. And something sort of creepy. She would go to the door and say, "Baby brother coming."

--She has started saying her own prayers lately. Not because of any spiritual enlightenment, but as a way to procrastinate bedtime. They usually sound something like this: "Gibberish, gibberish, daddy, gibberish, monkey, gibberish, gibberish, baby dog, gibberish, baby brother, gibberish, pig, park, gibberish, Yo Gabba Gabba, gibberish, the end!!" They can last up to 3 or 4 minutes. Reminds me of my grandpa and the tortuously long prayers we had to endure before holiday family meals.

--Everything has "monkey" in front of it. It started as a way to get her to wear her hat. "But it's a monkey hat. Don't you want to wear a monkey hat?" Now it's "monkey pad" (the iPad), "monkey pone" (my phone. She has a hard time with the "f" sound when it's the first letter in a word), and today she randomly pulled out "monkey pizza".

Ignore the hideous bouncer. It's been a life-saver.

Why can't Ada share this well with kids her own age?

And he already has his first cold.
I guess that a toddler sneezing point blank into your face pretty much negates all OCD levels of hand washing/cleaning.

Photobucket

Ada sharing the iPad. She wanted the baby to "watch" with her.
True story: The other night after telling Kyle that I was surprised the iPad was still in good condition with a 2 year old using it everyday, literally (and I'm using that word correctly) 1 minute later, Ada dropped it and cracked the screen in 4 different places. I'm like the opposite of The Secret.

Dancey Dance

We have been busy busy busy. I haven't even had a chance to pull out my camera lately.
Here's Ada at a little "pre-ballet" class this morning. I love that she passed up the sparkly tiara for the top hat. She also had to make sure that her buddy Jacob had a matching one. That's so Ada.

I couldn't tell if that was the instructor's actual voice. She used the same high pitch while talking to me so maybe it was?
