Ada Soccers & 6 Month Checkups

I signed Ada up for a little tot soccer class in Central Park and today was her first day. She did surprisingly well. I thought I'd have to intervene more (based on how her life has been going lately).

that girl's got style

dirt smudged face

happy Joseph just hanging out. Again.

This was pre-shots.

His new stats are:
Height: 27.25 inches, 75th%
Weight: 17.12 pounds,  50%

I was right. He didn't really grow as much the last couple of months.

by comparison, Ada at this age:
Height: 27.25 inches, 92nd%
Weight: 17.6 pounds, 75th%

I love the baby's non-reaction.

Her first adventure in tandem bathing (with Liam).

Post bath violin concert. She insisted on sitting down for a good listen.

BTW: Have any of you in the neighborhood checked out this new bakery (La Toulousaine on Amsterdam and 106)?   It is to die for. The owners are straight from Toulouse, France and are completely legit.  Best croissant I've ever had and I dream about their egg salad sandwich 24/7.

So nonchalant about sitting in the high chair.  I'm bound and determined to get a picture of him actually eating...

More Side by Sides

Here's a comparison of Ada around the same age. I don't think they look identical anymore but they definitely look like siblings.  Am I wrong (about the identical part)?

Don't worry--it's not one of those modeling contests. I just want to win the giftcard.

Preschool Update

She loves it. I love it. Win win.
Plus, I die whenever I see her with her backpack on.

Smorgasburg: we ate and ate and ate. And then we went back for seconds and thirds and ate some more. Ridiculous amounts of food. It was grotesque--in a beautiful, wonderful way. Pretty sure I gained a few glorious pounds.
So in summary: we ate. A lot.

ferry ride over to Williamsburg

making friends with random dogs (kind of her thing). she kept asking if she could "ride it". Watch out Gunner.

ice scream sandwich

Other things we consumed:
banh-mi hot dogs
lobster roll
oatmeal cookie and sea salt ice cream sandwich
poppy seed donut
watermelon and tarragon lemonade
chicken and waffles
grilled cheese sandwich with pickled onion and dijon mustard (my favorite. must re-create)

yum and yum

I've been trying to figure out why Joseph has had such a hard time sleeping lately. After seeing him pop up on all fours today I realized why.
I've purposefully NOT been putting him down on the ground much because I didn't want an early crawler.  To make up for it, baby has been compulsively practicing in his crib. All.night.long.

Obviously I couldn't decide which pictures to post. Indulge me.

Yep. Those eyes are definitely brown.

True story:  A lady on the bus today asked me if she could "be weird and smell the baby".
I let her.

Ada Goes to School

Ada yelling "I want to goooooooooo!"
We had to be there at 9am. Blurry iPhone pics were all I could manage

She's got a new backpack coming in the mail.

As we were standing on the subway platform waiting for our train, I thought "should I be sad about this?" No way!  We both need a break from each other. I feel like Ada wakes up in the morning and we just fight all day (potty training hasn't helped the situation). I have a feeling that her 3s are going to be even worse than her 2s. Ada's never been much of a public tantrum thrower, but we've had 3 in the last week. EPIC tantrums.  Tantrums that have lasted for an hour. Tantrums with her writhing on a taxi cab floor, screaming like you've never heard a child scream (that poor cab driver kept repeating "whoa!"). Tantrums where I've had to drag/carry her the entire way home (with poor Joseph hanging on for dear life. Sorry kid--you will always be overshadowed by your older sister. Good thing you weren't another girl!)  Can she just be 5 already? JK. Sort of.   These overly emotional kids are so up and down.  She's either a complete and absolute delight or. the. opposite.  There is no in between with her. My mom laughs at Ada's antics because they are all too familiar. We'll just say that I was similar.
But man how I love my saucy, naughty, stubborn, impossible girl.  Even when she leaves bite marks on my arm.

More Randoms Plus Videos of a Baby Laughing

even the bored expression is identical

making stuff at the Cooper-Hewitt Design Center

laughing and Ada's what I think might be early asthmatic cough. thank you crappy Monson genes.

one of the biggest perks of Ada riding the kick board 24/7--she keeps the baby constantly entertained (she also keeps him from sleeping)
