More Dog

Ada is obsessed with that dog. She calls him "MY dog". She talks about him when he's not there. My dad said "I wish Ada would hug me as much as she hugs Gunner". Ironic that a long running family joke is about how my dad loves his dogs more than his own children.

Total fake-out pic.  Even after being up all night (literally getting 3 hours of sleep) with a raging ear infection (her first ever. what's up with my kids right now?), she won't take a nap.  How is that even possible?

For Jessie and Annie--the only 2 people in the entire world who will fully appreciate this chain of events.

We're missing the pic of him sitting happily in that thing. With my OCD, I (gently) threw down my camera and quickly whisked him to the sink for a thorough hand washing.

The Annual Sweet Sugar Cookie Making

My mom used to run a tight ship when it came to these sugar cookies. We would joke about the factory assembly line she used to force us in to. Things have gotten a little bit more lax around these here parts. Also--this is definitely one of my top five most self- indulgent posts. 13 pictures of my kid making sugar cookies (when 1 or 2 would suffice)! ENJOY!!

all baking should be done dressed like this.

a pinch of flour.

we call her Vicky.

doesn't Ada look so grown-up here?

the best part.

this is the point when we would have started to bandy about the terms "slave" and "labor".

the second best part.

Ada has been asking for snow all year so this was a long time coming.   We made it up to Idaho to visit the folks for the Holidays. Cold, windy, miserable snow...

Not feeling it. Especially after his grandmother accidentally dumped him face first into the snow.

still not really feeling it. Poor frozen hand.

Especially with this going on.

not pictured: giant tears after Gunner took off with her sled. Stoooopid dog.

Massive Dump

We are headed out for the holidays early tomorrow morning so I just need to throw these pics up here en masse. No time for collaging/editing.
Annalisa and I left our babies at home (with someone) and took our kids on a "mommy toddler" date to the train show at Grand Central Station and then we wandered around for a bit. I need to do that more often. And yes--Ada's hands are in her pants 24/7. She loves to touch the tags in her clothes. I promise that's all that it is. I need to be more diligent about cutting those things out.

Grand Central. Too bad you can never have that place to yourself.

checking out the constellations on the ceiling.

more star-gazing

across the street past the NY Public Libary.

around the corner

waiting impatiently for the carousel to open at Bryant Park.

waiting a little bit more patiently with a doughnut in hand.

exiting stage right after two go-arounds.

through the park

quick stop at the Lion King exhibit.

home again, home again, jiggity jig.

Obligatory Santa Picture

So I couldn't decide which Santa picture to post. "Out-of-focus Santa" or "Terrifying Talking and Pointing Santa".  And why does he have a name tag around his neck? We all know who he is.
(Tiffany--thanks for getting the shot!)

I'm a little bit (a lot) obsessed with my new camera and lenses (Merry Christmas to me!!). The photography part hasn't been that tough of a learning curve, but the HD video capabilities are going to be a different story.  That's what I'll be researching for the next month or so...
