Pictures from our trip to France are going to be taking over this blog for a few days. And I just want to say right now--travel photography? Meh. Not my thing at ALL.

They were throwing a ball and then she asked Kyle to throw her. Obliged.
Kyle looks like he's creepily lurking, but really he was on the hiding end of "hide and seek" : Joseph complaining to get down, Ada sticking her tongue out, Kyle laughing about it. An accurate representation of life, I'd say.
Not her best "hiding place" idea...
And a bunch of pictures of an albino peacock. Doesn't it sort of look like an underwater creature? Not sure which one. Maybe a sea anemone?

Ada looking like she's in a deliriously happy place--which lucky us, is her natural state 85% of the time.
Thanks for getting the shots Lynda! You've captured perfectly the essence of Ada.
What I wouldn't give to have half of that child's zest for life.
and one of Joseph for good measure.

Today ended with me emailing Kyle "You can go ahead and get that vasectomy now."--so you can imagine what type of day it was. I won't go into details but thank you again to Erinn, for being overly ambitious with me and hauling our 4 children to the High Line this morning (turns out we shouldn't have). These pics are the best I got with two kids running in opposite directions. I'm amazed I even snapped one--and probably shouldn't have even pulled my camera out at all. On the way home Ada said "this was a run away from mommy day" and "this was a not listen to mommy day" and "this was a mommy was mad day". Yep--that about sums it all up.
Dancing : HUGS
both of my kids are technically in this pic so I'm going to go ahead and call it a success (low standards today).

My people (starring downtown Manhattan).
He was looking at me! : goose poop hands. so gross (especially when he put some in his mouth. I will never recover).
I know these pics are skyline heavy--but come on! That view.
We also went to the Liberty Science Center and honestly, we were underwhelmed. Ask me about it if you want details.

First of all these two (that are supposed to loop. not sure why they don't on certain computers) videos:
I have never seen anyone so hysterical. And all over a stupid balloon.
Favorite books lately:
I got my hands on an original from 1972 and it is charming, charming, charming. Though I could do without the peeping tom story--that never would have made the book in this day and age.
Ada got this for Christmas 2 years ago. It has some of the cutest illustrations I've ever seen. Perfect for a space-loving kid (and Ada's rocket ship adoration).
This book has a lot of words and I admit that I groan every time Ada pulls it out. Great illustrations. For the kid who walks to the beat of their own drum and the building stuff obsessed.
We've got several of these "touch the art" books (which are now out of print--though there are other newer ones available). Ada LOVES them but I'm always disappointed when we read them. Such a great idea with terrible execution. Someone needs to rip off the idea and do it better. Anyone want to write some kiddie books with me?

I spontaneously decided to take Ada to the Easter Parade yesterday morning. When I asked her if she wanted to go see a parade with lots of funny hats she said "Only if I can wear my fireman hat because it's pretty funny". Next year I might plan ahead and actually make her something. And since the whole point of the parade is to gape and take pictures with people wearing crazy hats, I'm sure she'd soak up all of the attention (in the "play-it-cool/nonchalant" kind of way that seems to be her signature).
this is amazing on so many levels. I shall title it "Ada and the Drag Queen".
this guy was really into it: seemed appropriate since we're going to France in 3 weeks. Love the McDonald's cup in his hand.
my favorite moment--when this woman put her "Pride and Prejudice" hat on Ada, cackling the entire time: so pink.
Ada would run up to everyone wanting to get a picture and get so offended if they didn't notice/hear her. Talk about taking it personally.
she got a little rabbit pin from this lady. nice touch.
the Easter horse?: I'm pretty sure this mom's goal was to get her kid in the NYTimes. I'll have to check to see if she succeeded.
Giant Easter eggs at Rockefeller Center. This is right before she jumped into the bed of flowers and tried to whack the pink egg with her flower balloon. My wild girl.
