Just came across this great little book from my childhood and already ordered it for Ada's birthday next week.

We woke Ada up after it got dark so my dad could take her "camping" in the backyard. It was adorable. Especially when I walked in on him making hot chocolate for her the next morning. Serious grandpa points.
That tent is from the 50s. My military father schlepped it around for that long.
Fake campfire complete with s'mores.
Underwhelmed at Bear World. Ada: "When will we be at Bear World?". Me: "Um....Look around at all the bears. Where do you think we are?"
More baby deer.
Rides with Jessie.
The day lillys in my parent's backyard. Drool.

Reading at the piano.
King of the picnic.
Kids with chips.
Jessie's face is so priceless in this I had to screenshot it. You're welcome.
The look of utter concern.
Boy with stick.
Deep in conversation.
Annie found this kitten on the side of the road (it's sort of her thing. This is the third kitten she's found in a similar manner).
Anyone want to adopt it?
I'm going to get into professional kitty photography.

Golfing. She was true to form--freakishly enthusiastic.
Getting a swing lesson from Pop Pop. She would get pretty frustrated when her ball wouldn't go very far. Me too Ada, me too.
Fun with dog kennels.
He added "bubble" to his vocabulary.
I bribed Ada with candy to get these pictures. This is all she'd give me:
And then finally:
Bandaged chin and binocs. 4 stitches for this little girl (watch out for those balance beams--they can be slippy).

Post banana this morning.
I realized that I never blogged about all the crap Joseph can do now that he's 18 months (aren't I supposed to?). So I figured I'd at least throw up the few words he can say for posterity sake (fully realizing that this is only interesting to exactly 2 other people).
mmmm hmmmmm = yes
No (of course)
the obvious ones: mama, dada, ada (this ended up being a brilliant name choice. So easy to say AND write), ball, book, milk, more.
Poop (he is his sister's brother)
Love you (sweet boy)
Thank you (and so polite!)
Go = Here you go
and in the last two days he's picked up: Gunner, Pop Pop, Nana and bubbles
He only knows one animal sound--a monkey (poor second child. He basically knows nothing)
And one of Ada just because she told me today that the bug bite on her leg was a little boob. Love her.

We made it to Idaho after a couple of days in Salt Lake City for our annual July sabbatical. We are slowly adjusting to the abrupt change of pace. Ada keeps asking "what are we going to do next?" I hope she isn't too hard to keep entertained. Child is spoiled spoiled spoiled with her NYC lifestyle--everyday an adventure. True story: On the drive up here, Ada looked around at the (extremely beautiful) landscape and said "Where are all the tall buildings? It can't be pretty without them." She needs a re-education and ASAP. Also--no access to Photoshop. Ack! Bear with me.
Helping Pop Pop and Gunner with farm chores.
The Tetons on the way up to Driggs this morning. There was supposed to be a big hot air balloon launch that didn't end up happening (so just imagine the pictures that could have been).
Roses abloom in my parent's glorious yard.
I think she'll get the hang of this...
