Baby It's Cold Outside

So we've been inside. Naturally.

The bubble beard perfected.

I've got the cleanest kids in all of New York City.

I always think it's a crying shame to throw a picture of Ada into black and white (losing all of that beautifully flawless coloring), but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do in order to salvage something you can't fix. Sigh.

Foggy Morning in Riverside Park

He loves it. Really he does.

Yep.

And whatever that black thing is he narrowly avoided sitting in.

This Afternoon

It was almost 60 degrees today and we went to the playground for the first time in ages...so...it needed to be documented?

Don't let that halo of blond hair fool you...

I can't fully explain why, but I think that Ada looks exactly like Julie Andrews a la the Sound of Music here (the haircut? The wide open-mouthed singing?).

She ain't always pretty:

Doing her best impersonation of the Emperor.

Him, though-- he's always pretty. Even when tired and deadly serious.

My favorite Ada-ism this month:

Ada chasing the dog we were watching around the playground "Snickers! Snickers! Get back here Snickers! Oh you silly Snickers!". And the completely unPC hilarity that ensued because of her inability to correctly pronounce "Snickers".  (She couldn't pronounce the "s" and she softens her "ck" sound).

I think this trumped her inability to say "bridge" awhile back (b*tch).

He's 2!

We are notoriously terrible at celebrating birthdays, but we did let him come sledding with us before we ditched him to see Mother Africa with Ada (it was fantastic). Better luck next time buddy!

I love how utterly unimpressed he looks here.

Rosy cheeks all around.

So much brown wood.

And he actually ate a cupcake! Which doesn't seem like that big of a deal until you consider the fact that it was the most square meal he's had in months. It'll be interesting to see his growth stats at the doctor's office next week. I don't know how he manages it.

I don't think there's really much you can say about a 2 year old's preferences. He really likes cheese? But here's my attempt nonetheless (for my mother):

Favorite color: Yellow. EVERYTHING is yellow.
Favorite book: Dear, Zoo (the monkey flap is completely worn out)
Favorite animal: Gunners (he still calls all dogs this)
Favorite song: Old McDonald (He screams out "cow" every time. "There sure are a lot of cows on this farm")
Favorite thing to play with: Typical boy crap but he's got a definite sweet side and plays with dolls too.
Favorite food: Air? Milk probably. Since it's all he eats. He'll even reject a chocolate chip cookie.

He finally started saying "Yes" instead of "mmmm hmmmm" and it breaks my little heart.

And then this giant plastic monstrosity that is now taking up precious space in my 1200 square foot apartment. I can do this. I can do this. I can do this:

Roughhousing

And that's it. We're all glad you're 2 Joseph!

More CA: Part 3

The 3rd time I pulled out my camera. One of our trips to San Francisco. The Presidio. I call these "Us holding Joseph in front of the Golden Gate Bridge as we wistfully look out into the ocean ".

And then a few more highlights from the trip. This obviously:

How have I never noticed this pic up on Kyle's parent's wall?  Kyle must be what? 16?  And he doesn't even look humiliated at all?  Love that guy. Also, this needs to be recreated.

I don't think any other highlights can beat that one so I'll just quit now. So long California!

More CA: Part 2

The second time I took out my camera. For a little hike up the brown hills behind Kyle's parent's house.  I had a really hard time narrowing them down:

Joseph got carried the entire way. Laziest/spoiled toddler.

There are actually 4 people in this picture if you look closely enough.

More CA: Part 1

While in California, I pulled my camera out exactly 3 times (in 10 days).  Pretty lame.

The first time: Christmas afternoon.

I don't know football terminology. Is this what they call a huddle?

Her face.

Kyle's face AND her face.

The shoes on the wrong feet.

I call this "Hotdog Big-footing".

Exactly 2 more posts coming.
