Socrates Sculpture Park and MoMA PS1

Friday morning, Erinn and I ditched our little guys and embarked on a way-too-ambitious adventure to Long Island City (Erinn--thank you sincerely for always being up for these crazy ideas of mine).  I'd been wanting to hit up the Socrates Sculpture Park for a few years now. This kind of thing can be so cheesy so I made sure the new summer exhibits would entertain our kids. And ding ding ding. They could have spent hours there.

Inside the ark.

This was so beautiful. Hundreds of strands of silver Mylar ribbon dancing in the wind.

Erinn getting handy with some sculptural boobies.

Inside on her garbage throne. It reminded me of an airplane crash that had been reclaimed by the jungle.

We then went on a scooter ride over to MoMA PS1 to see their new summer installation Hy-Fi (the scooter ride ending up being way longer than I anticipated. Our kids are serious troopers). It did not disappoint. Especially because we were the first people of the season to get into the pool, which means my germaphobia didn't kick in too badly.

I mean....really.

Looking up.

Ada Date

I've been doing a terrible job of documenting stuff lately. Here's a quick attempt. This was two Saturdays ago (I think?). I took Ada on a scooter date down to the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theater in Central Park to watch a show. These are from the Shakespeare garden right behind it as we killed some time before it started.

Met up with the rest of our fam and some friends:

This picture of Lou.

This other one of Lou.

This one of cross-eyed Joseph. He has to do everything himself these days. "by self" is oft repeated.

These of Ada laughing at May. This summer is going to be tough with her. She is almost painfully extroverted and she's spoiled after this school year because she's been constantly surrounded by 17 other kids her age. I can't possibly keep up!

Joseph, on the other hand, is content to just go off and quietly do his own thing. Incredibly easy child.

Last Week: Central Park

Sometime last week we wandered up to the Great Hill because there was a break in the rain. We met up with some friends and I decided to pull out the camera since it had been awhile and the light seemed good (though it ended up really weird and green in some of these).

Just trying to keep up.

This little dog makes my kids deliriously happy, which makes me happy. Thanks for sharing Maggie!

"I'm getting married".

Pretty little friends.

The boy.

That perfect baby Lou.

I sometimes walk in on Ada doing this:

The Robot

Ada just told me that this is how she prays in church:

"Dear Heavenly Father, I'm thankful for church because I get a  lot of snacks--that's called "eating", and because I get some water--that's called drinking".  The end.

And speaking of church, when asked if she has ever seen Jesus she responded "Oh, I see his finger every single day".

Plus a few pictures from today  since I've fallen off the blogging bandwagon (momentarily). I'm not even going to bother editing them (I've spent hours in front of the computer the last few days editing stupid head shots I took of Kyle's employees. All in an attempt to fake the actual terrible light I had to deal with. Yikes. I was maybe 90% successful? either way, I'm burned out).
